This puts things into perspective, doesn't it?! I'm involved with the music department at church, but I truly believe that above all is the Word of God. Music is important in that it leads us into worship that we might receive the Word of God. I think of the verse: I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Ps. 138:2. I think that if you hear the Word of God and understand, whether standing or sitting, time might go by and you may not realize just how much time has passed. That's when you know, I believe, you've received the Word. Another thought-provoking post!

<strong>Thank you, Tommyjoe for adding these beautiful scriptures.

In general we have raised a good group of young pepole. But with all the entertainments and distractions that they get from other sources it is a constant battle to keep them on the right track. I deal with this topic with young married couples even today.

I received an anonymous comment on my blog under "I Remember Prayer Meetings II" that shows that we are still doing the right things as far as teaching and training. But I admit it takes a lot of prayer, patience and consistency.

Shirley, This is a very sobering post. I will think about this for a long time. Thank you. Love, Helen

<strong>I know it's sobering, Helen...and I don't always like sobering. But sometimes--no, often--we must be real with ourselves, look deeply into our souls, and analyze our very beings.

Shirley, There are times lately when I have stopped and checked myself to see if my love for God and His word is true. I don't want to be a sham, but I want the light of Christ to shine through me in every circumstance. I always want to cherish His word and His ways!

<strong>Of all things, Kevin, I don't want to be a sham. I would rather be honestly mistaken than to speak hollow and misfigured words. Very real is the danger that we might spiritually deteriorate until in our grasp is only an image, while the glorious reality had slipped away. We cannot let that happen. A love for God's Word is one way to guard against such a happening.

You work with young people a lot. How do you feel about them? Have we been able to transfer to their souls a passion for God and for His Word?
