Shirley, If we could always remember that the ministry is to serve. I don't ever want to get to a place where I can not be a servant to the people of God and my community! Thanks for this great reminder!

I Corinthians 9:27
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Hello, Aisha...so good to have you here and commenting. I feel honored.

You are a wonderful grand-daughter and I know you are making a tremendous pastor's wife. Can't wait to go to Carson City and see your church.

You stated truth when you said, "...I do not want to forget that my family is here to serve, not to be served." I believe you and Joel will always keep that great attitude...God will reward you for it.

Hug my sweet babies and say, "Granny loves you."

Yes, being humble is key to "success"... as our church in Carson grows I do not want to forget that my family is here to serve, not to be served.
Some may question, how do we make sure to stay humble? Just as you have found; continually seeking God.
I've worried at times, well, how do I know if I am in the will of God? The Bible states "the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord". God does not scheme for ways to trip us up. It is our own self that trips us up.
Plainly, HIS WILL is for us TO STAY HUMBLE.
This is just the thoughts of a "young" pasto's wife - feel free to let me know if I am off :) I read your blog as much as possible TO LEARN and BE ENRICHED, thank you. Love u.

Thank you, Carol, for your response. I believe you are one who has such humility of spirit, and who would never be arrogant or presumptuous.

While at times some seem to prosper without godly direction, at the final reckoning, God's law will prevail.

I truly want to stay humble, always seeking after the will of God...even when I may not understand it or can even make sense of it. His ways are far above ours.

The understanding that our own abilities and successes are nothing without God’s blessing is vital.

That's a powerful statement and so true. I guess it's part of our fallen sinful nature to become lifted up with pride when we feel we'ved achieved a measure of success, but may God help us to remember that we are nothing without Him, that He deserves the honor and that no flesh should glory before Him.
