Phil. 4:8 Goes along with the verses in Jermiah as a good indicator of where we are spiritually.

I desire a deeper relationship with God.

Welcome to my blog. Hope you visit often.

I believe when the Word of God speaks of the heart, it is referring to our mind–the innermost part of us. I think it would be hard to separate our thoughts, minds and heart.

Thinking on lovely things is a good thing–scripture tells us to do that, but that alone is not enough to clean up our heart. We must have it washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ.

You’re on the right track, for we all must want to do right in order to do so. Peter addressed the people on the day of Pentecost who asked what they should do, with this response:

“Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

God’s spirit is what takes care of our heart problems and turns us into the kind and loving people we want to be.

Do you think our thoughts and minds are led around by our hearts or viseversa?So if our hearts and assentially evil,if we push enough good thoughts and dwell on lovely things it can transform us.Is it all an effort to make a transformation?Will it work out so we can be the kind and loving people we want to be?Just doin some searching.Thanks for your blog I really enjoyed it.

How do you feel about God searching your heart? At times I’ve heard people say (usually in a defensive mode), “Well, God knows my heart.”

Another time I heard a preacher refer to this statement. He added, “Yes, God knows my heart…and it scares me to death.”

I’m afraid I live there also. Ashamed of my shortcomings, but happy to have God holding my reins and searching my heart.

Carol–that prayer of David’s is the song of my heart. Please God, create in me a clean heart. I do want to be righteous and pure, scraping out any imperfections that may have crept inside me, any taint of the world, through which we are forced to walk.

You’re right, though, and it cheers me. God loves us, despite our heart conditions.

Will I see you at camp meeting in a few weeks?

I’m reading Jeremiah now and stopped at this verse a few days ago. I’ve made a real effort recently to take inventory of what’s going on in my own heart instead of wondering about others…not always easy to do and impossible without the work of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 51:10 is a Scripture I do pray sometimes but probably not enough. Even with the Holy Ghost, it seems so easy for our hearts to be led astray, but I’m glad God is patient and He does deal with us about our hearts in many ways. (the preaching of His Word, our conscience, prayer, etc.) The amazing thing is that even with our “heart condition”, He still loves us and is constantly reaching for us! Thank you for this post.
