The Disturbing Church of Oprah

Yesterday, on both CBGrace’s and Rochelle’s sites I saw this disturbing video. I’ll be making comments, but you probably will also profit by going to these other sites and reading there.

This is disturbing, for tens of thousands of Americans are now attending Oprah’s Church. The doctrine she endorses is not Bible based–indeed it flies in the face of sound biblical interpretation. This smacks of the anti-Christ to me, and I am astonished that multiplied thousands of Christians are flocking to this.

Consider this scripture in Isaiah 5:19-21, 24

“Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: …Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.”

It both puzzles and saddens me that so many people will reject God’s Word, which through the stormy testing of time and incident, stands true, relative and with the promise of eternal life, and yet these same ones will spend time, energy and money in studying so intensely the words of a mere man. It is called deception, and, with careless abandon will fling souls into hell.

2 Timothy 4:3 says: “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” This ‘feel-good,’ Gospel-Light New age stuff that is being taught is wrong. Unfortunately it extends beyond Oprah to some rather prevelant ministers and authors.

    Remain steadfast. Pray for discernment.

Thank you for your response, your concern and your support.

It is no mere coincidence that those who berate Oprah Winfrey also berate Barack Obama. Maybe the Devil’s a Republican. 🙂

Can you provide the youtube link to this?

To get to YouTube on this and any other video, click on the picture rather than the button.

No, Jesus is NOT a republican nor a racist.
He has established some very firm points for us (humans) to follow. He, Jesus is the ONLY one who did die for my sins and then rose from the grave to give me a hope beyond this life. Ms Oprah has done none of these! We all know that there are a multitude of roads, yet, not all roads lead to Jesus. Ms. Oprah is a part of the belive system that says came as you will, nothing is wrong, just comes along with us. Ms. Oprah is a member of the same group of people as Mr. Obama and Jeremiah Wright.

Sorry but all of this has raised some very deep questions in my mind about this FORM of a religion?

One of the most dangerous attacks on Christianity today is that of desensitization that leads to complacency. In the world of academia, where I work, almost everything imaginable is accepted, if not embraced. It takes dedication and concecration to avoid being sucked into this kind of thinking when it’s so prevalent. Really, though, all it takes is reading and believing the word of God.

  8. Father Joe says:

Oprah is probably one of the more vocal New Agers in Hollywood. Silly breathing exercises are considered prayer. She argues that there are a million ways to salvation, although she berates the Christian stress upon Jesus. Faith in God is explictly emptied of faith content and called a personal feeling. Instead of acknowledging God as the source of life, human beings are made the first principles of LIFE and Oprah and her guru friends take the name of God, I AM, for themselves on television. Rather than God becoming a man; they stress men and women as gods. Like the early Gnostic and Manichean heresies, she speaks about choices between light and darkness but voids the historical narrative of salvation: the creation, the fall, the promise, and our redemption in Christ Jesus.

I am glad that people are waking up to the danger.

We love our brothers and sisters in other faiths and even those with no faith at all. We pray for them and leave their judgment to God.

Speaking as a Christian, I believe that Jesus is THE WAY and THE TRUTH and THE LIFE. He is the ONE MEDIATOR and REDEEMER of all. His is the SAVING NAME. There is no other WAY TO THE FATHER than through Jesus Christ. I believe that he SUFFERED and DIED for sinners, making himself a ransom or sin-offering for many. I believe that Jesus is both GOD and MAN. He is the REVELATION OF THE FATHER. Jesus is the SECOND PERSON OF THE TRINITY: One God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit. I see the CROSS, not as a sign of defeat but as CHRIST’S VICTORY. He RISES FROM THE DEAD and offers his friends a share in HIS LIFE. I believe that God desires for all men and women TO KNOW, TO LOVE, and to HAVE FAITH in Christ. We are called to be his witnesses in faith and charity in the world.

NONE OF US SHOULD EVER BE EMBARASSED BY THE CROSS OR ASHAMED TO PREACH JESUS CHRIST.

I guess all this means that I cannot belong to Oprah’s Church. Certainly in her eyes it makes me and people like me seem intolerant. But I would rather be in Jesus’ Church than in hers anyway.

I would rather stand up for the truth and maybe save souls than to be deceitful or silent and liked, while people march blindly into perdition.

Oprah used to be Baptist. It sounds to me that it is past time for her to restore the BIBLE to her book club.

    Nice post– AMEN! AMEN!

  9. dean says:

Amen Father Joe, Maybe she forgot her roots. Peace!

  10. I don’t beleive that anyone that has that much money as Oprah would think that they are more powerful than God, I will pray for her.

  11. clyde keene says:

It is astonishing that ignorance is not just for the unlearned and poor. Oprah in all her glory has very little “biblical” back ground. Not knowing the difference of wordage in bible passage. When she stated she did not want to serve a “jealous” God, does she not know there are three words translated for the meaning of jealous? Listening close to her statements remine one of the other cults that have taken verse to twist into there evil use. A little truth, and a lot of added untruth, mix it together and you have Jim Jones, Charles Mansion, Mormon, Jehova Witness, and on and on.

    • Martha Rice says:

Yeah! she said she couldn’t believe Jesus was jealous of her and it made her open her eyes. She is nuts because He is not jealous of her or anyone else, just what we put ahead of our love for Him. I pray that she wakes up. I am also sick of her in the last month or so reminding everyone that in 2004 she gave all of her audience a car. Brag, brag. I wish she would do good deeds and not claim them at all. It would mean more. She believes she is God. She couldn’t be more wrong.

  12. Charlotte says:

I would like to remind everyone that we know we all have God given “choices.” It is our own EGO that gets in our way of feeling we are right and someone else has to be wrong. God Bless all of you in your own individual journey’s toward salvation. Let us keep in mind that those same EGO’s are the ones that placed Jesus on the cross. May you continue in your own light to follow your own choice in each and everything you do in life, in truth and respect for God’s creation. I believe that if each and every single person even begins to do that, worrying about Oprah would not be of such concern, rather the concern about how we can make this world and our nation better. Leaving it when we do pass on at least, and to some extent how God gave it to us. I think we all have done a very poor job of following whatever belief you believe. Start with that log in your own eye before you judge that speck in your neighbor’s. We have been in a war now for 7 years. I pray that we have such an uprising about things like that, instead of being concerned about Oprah. How about an uprising about our economy, the school systems, paying teacher’s to teach your kids something more than how to play video games? This nation talks a good talk, but walking the “WALK?” I don’t think so!!! Opinion’s~~we all have them. How about putting things of importance on the burner???

  13. Charlotte says:

In my last post I mentioned about teachers and video games in the same breath. My intention was to say “paying our teacher’s better to teach our kids, and as parents teaching your kids to read, write, and do arithmatic instead of watching television and playing video games.”

  15. Rev. Zoraida Rivera says:

Reading about Ophras thoughts, I was asking myself ¿we are always talking about an Antichrist to be a man, maybe it turn out to be a “woman”? I am not stating that she is the Antichrist, but she might be his wife.

The Bible very clearly tell us that this kind of people will come out from our church. This is nothing new, for me I feel sad because I always respect Ophra as a woman who has been an icon to women specially. But the only thing we have to do is pray for her and never accept her “new evil faith”.
